Every year at the annual Texas FFA Convention the best and brightest agriculture science students gathered for the Texas FFA Agriscience Fair.
Students competing in this event must conduct and present scientific research projects based on skills and principles learned in their agriculture education courses.

“While it’s hard work and requires dedication, it’s also a great experience, especially if you’re going to convention for the first time,” said Karlee Vinklarek, Glenn FFA.
Students have the freedom to choose between six different competition categories including animal systems, environmental services/natural resource systems, plant systems, power, structural and technical systems and social systems. Students are placed into specific divisions depending on their grade level and the number of individuals on their team.

Dylan Reiley, a sophomore from the Marion FFA chapter, said his team presented their project over teacher perceptions on record keeping systems in Texas, a topic that has become quite important to ag teachers across the state of Texas.
“Our project has allowed us to talk to several ag teachers; and on top of that we have been able to benefit The AET [Record Keeping System] by allowing them to receive feedback,” Reiley said. “I like that someone other than us can benefit from it.”

While there was a total of 153 entries, the most popular category was plant sciences. Students across each category compete to win a $1000 scholarship.
