How many years have you been a supporter and/or advocate for Texas FFA?
McCoy’s Building Supply has been a Texas FFA Corporate Sponsor for 14 years.
How did you become a sponsor with the Texas FFA? Why?
In the early 2000’s, McCoy’s refocused our entire farm and ranch program. The Texas FFA Association’s core values, ethics, morals and leadership philosophy mirror many of McCoy’s. We decided it was an excellent opportunity to help sponsor such an organization. As a family-owned and operated company, we see the importance of supporting our youth to help them become great leaders in whatever path they take in life.
What do you find most satisfying / beneficial to your support of the Texas FFA?
We love how it’s a growing organization that gives back to others through service. Also, we are always impressed when we interact with members at various events and see the respect and manners such as using yes ma’am or yes sir.
How would you describe our Texas FFA members?
They’re an excellent group of young men and women who are passionate about serving others, developing their talents, learning from others, and doing the best that they can. Texas FFA members are respectful, honest, caring people who look out for those around them.
How would you describe our Texas agricultural science teachers?
Ag teachers are outgoing, vigilant, enduring, caring and hard working. They are passionate and act as guides for young lives. We have formed lifelong friendships based on our appreciation and respect for them.
What do you feel sets Texas FFA apart from other youth development organizations?
The FFA is a growing organization that many young adults are encouraged and want to be a part of. After attending the member-led convention, it’s easy to see that these future leaders are already quite outstanding. It’s an organization that has kept its original agriculture values, but has also adapted to include science and technology, opening the organization up to continued growth.
