Spring Branch FFA member, Emily Valicek, has embraced her creativity and design skills to establish her own vinyl decal business, Happygrams.
"I make vinyl decals and sell them to agricultural-related businesses," said Valicek. "I design logos, select fonts, use clients' brands or business logos, whatever fits their needs."
It began in 2020 when she purchased her sister's business.
"To make it my own, I gave the company a new name, completely rebranded, and went to work," said Valicek.
The role of a business owner comes with a lot of responsibility. She must communicate with current customers, market the business via social media, complete and package orders, maintain supplies, and manage financials.
"From beginning to end, I see that each client order is produced at the highest quality and completed promptly," said Valicek. "Some of my clients include exotic wildlife ranches, cattle producers, livestock breeders, and dirt construction companies."
She believes that her most significant accomplishment is her ability to analyze effective business practices. She has prioritized talking with other business owners to learn what has worked for them and what has yet to be successful.
"I feel confident that my business is impacting my future," said Valicek. "I expect to have a career in agricultural communication. This is providing me with experiences that will assist me in being prepared for a successful career in this industry."
Valicek's successful SAE project was recognized at the 2023 Texas FFA State Convention as the Star Greenhand in Agribusiness.
