Infectious laughter reverberated throughout the first general session as more than 8,000 members and guests were both moved and entertained by Dr. Rick Rigsby’s keynote address.
Tuesday afternoon the motivational speaker preached an empowering message focusing on conflict, work ethic and encouragement.
“If you are going to do a job, do it right,” Rigsby said. “It is your opportunity to serve.”
Rigsby’s knowledge and inspirational background stems from not only numerous life lessons, but also a doctorate degree, serving fourteen years as a professor at Texas A&M University, as well as chaplin for the TAMU football team.
Although Rigsby’s comical laugh and fast-paced jargon captivated many members and guests; heavy moments were also expressed as he reflected on recent tragedies that have struck our nation.
“Don’t be afraid, you stand for what you know is right,” said Rigsby. “Young folks don’t be afraid, you stand for what you know to be true.“
As Rigsby concluded his speech, he asked the audience to remember one thing from his time on stage.
“Be reminded of how great we are, how resilient we really are,” Rigsby said.
