Courtenay DeHoff brought energy, authenticity and a pair of iconic metallic orange cowboy boots to the First General Session of the 98th Annual Texas FFA Convention on July 8, inspiring thousands of Texas FFA members.
DeHoff is a fifth-generation ranch kid whose career has taken her far beyond the ranch. She is a highly sought-after keynote speaker, network television personality and proud cowgirl.

Throughout her presentation, DeHoff shared stories and encouraged members to have courage, dream big and embrace the confidence that comes with being an "ag kid."
With more than 15 years of experience as a television host, DeHoff now uses her expert storytelling skills to inspire audiences across the country.
“What might happen if you just have the courage to show up? You might wake up one morning and realize that you're showing up for a truly legendary life,” said DeHoff.

Reflecting on the early years of her career, she shared the pressure she felt to choose between her agricultural roots and her professional dreams.
“I was told at 22 years old, you can be the cowgirl or you can have the dream of being a TV host, but you can't have both,” said DeHoff. “And so the decision I made was this: I took this hat off of my head for the next 10 years. I spent a decade working in television, and I hid what I now know is the very best part of who I am.”

Her message centered on staying true to who you are, even when the world encourages you to be someone else.
“Do not spend the next 10 years of your life like I did trying to fit in, because the only way to be legendary is to stand out,” said DeHoff.
