Legendary bull rider and two-time PBR World Champion J.B.?Mauney addressed an arena full of Texas FFA members during the First General Session of the 97th Annual Texas FFA Convention, held in Fort Worth, Texas on July, 1, 2025.
Mauney shared his story of perseverance, hard work, and passion with more than 16,000 FFA members, advisors, and guests.
“You know, you gotta be tough,” Mauney said. “No matter what it is, do it with your whole heart. Do it 110%.”
He reflected on the mindset it took to become a world champion and encouraged students to never back down from life’s toughest challenges. He emphasized discipline, mental toughness, and staying true to your goals.
“Don't quit,” said Mauney. “You know, there's all kinds of things that are going to try to stop you from achieving your goals, but you can't let it stop you. You gotta work harder at it.”
Members of the agricultural youth leadership organization have experienced a week's worth of dynamic activities including a motivating keynote speech, insightful workshops, career development activities, specialized events and recognition for their achievements. Mauney helped kick off a week filled with legacy-building moments for the future leaders of Texas agriculture.
“Hard work, determination, and grit are rare qualities, but they’re traits we often see in our FFA members,” said Texas FFA Executive Director Jennifer Jackson. “We are grateful that JB Mauney took the time to visit with our students, share his story with humility, and inspire them to value perseverance in the face of challenges. His message was powerful, and his humble spirit left a lasting impression on all who heard him.”
