With a passion for serving his community, Frenship FFA member, Garrison Pieniazek, utilized the knowledge he gained through his FFA experience to start his businesses, 5P Metal Designs and GP Lawn Service.
5P Metal Designs started by selling nativity scenes at local farmer markets. Using the equipment and skills he learned in the ag classroom, Pieniazek was able to expand his business and offer more to clients such as Christmas ornaments and swing hanging feeders.
Meanwhile, "the idea of GP Lawn service was sparked from my love of maintaining my parents and grandparents lawn and using a push mower," Pieniazek said.
With the essential equipment and his father's support, he navigated the challenges of starting a lawn care service during a drought. Through strategic marketing and relentless dedication, GP Lawn Service flourished, establishing regular customers and a reputation for reliability and quality service.
In his Advanced Plant and Soil Science class, he learned how to maintain healthy soil, while the Soil Stewardship Speaking Contest allowed him to learn how to communicate the importance of maintaining lawn care.
"Regardless of my future career path, the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with people is essential," Pienizaek said.
As Pieniazek looks ahead, he knows the value of hard work, knowledge learned, and skills developed while owning two businesses will apply to any career path he chooses.
"From an early age, my family has instilled in me the significance of putting in effort and hard work," Pieniazek said. "But the satisfaction of creating something beautiful or completing a job and seeing a happy customer makes it all worthwhile."
Pieniazek’s successful SAE project was recognized at the 2023 Texas FFA State Convention as the Star Lone Star in Agribusiness.
