Chapters Celebrate National FFA Week
Saturday, March 15, 2014 | Author: Texas FFA

Each year, thousands of FFA Chapters across the country celebrate National FFA Week. The tradition began in 1948 when the National FFA Board of Directors designated the week of George Washington’s birthday as National FFA Week in recognition of his legacy as an agriculturist and farmer.

Following the 1949 decision to extend the tradition into a week-long event, FFA Week has transformed into an opportunity for FFA members to advocate for agricultural education and FFA.  This year National FFA Week was held February 15-22, 2014. Chapters across the state participated in various activities and community volunteer projects to demonstrate that the FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

Jacksboro FFA celebrated National FFA Week by participating in various community service projects throughout the week.

Orange Grove FFA celebrated National FFA Week by having “dress like a farmer day.”

Benjamin O. Davis Jr. FFA celebrated National FFA Week by informing other students what FFA is all about.

Lampasas FFA celebrated National FFA Week by writing columns for an eight page FFA Week Special Edition in their local newspaper.

What did your chapter do to celebrate? Please share your chapter’s FFA Week stories and photos on the Texas FFA Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
