With the 91st Annual Texas FFA Convention underway after a memorable opening session, FFA members were treated on Tuesday night to an exclusive performance by Casey Donahew.
“They came out rocking! It was just a great show,” said Texas FFA State Vice President Mason Hines.
Donahew opened with crowd-favorite “Stockyards” and continued the night with more favorites including “White Trash Story” and “Bad Guy,” which Donahew labeled as his favorite song that he’s written in the past decade.
“I love being on stage and trying to connect with crowds and by telling my story through songs,” said Donahew.
Donahew comes from Burleson, Texas and has been performing for 17 years, topping the Texas music charts several times. He credits his musical interest to his grandfather, who taught him guitar, and names Pat Green and Robert Earl Keen as big influences on his career.
Donahew’s five-piece band included Donahew himself on acoustic guitar, electric and bass guitarists, a fiddle player, and a drummer. During the performance, each member had a chance to shine with a solo.
“The energy the band put out was phenomenal,” Pearsall FFA member Roque Benavides said. “He made the concert feel personal to me and that’s what made the concert feel alive.”
