2015 Texas FFA Leadership Development Events Rewind
Thursday, January 14, 2016 | Author: Kaleigh Burnett, Student Rec. & Scholarship Coordinator
Participation in Texas FFA Leadership Career Development Events surged to record levels in 2015. This year 904 of the state’s 1,043 local chapters had at least one entry at the district level. The 86.67% statewide participation rate is a high mark for the organization since it began tracking participation data in 2000.
Eleven of the state’s 57 FFA districts, nearly one-fifth, reported that 100% of their chapters fielded at least one entry. Area I reported the highest rate of chapter participation with 93.55% of its chapters engaging in fall leadership competitions.

Six thousand and seventeen entries were fielded statewide, an all-time record. Nine of 13 events recorded all-time high marks: Greenhand FFA Quiz, Greenhand Agricultural Skills Demonstration, Senior Agricultural Quiz, Senior Agricultural Skills Demonstration, Senior Chapter Conducting, Job Interview, FFA Broadcasting, Public Relations and Agricultural Advocacy all hit all-time record participation.

Results of the State Leadership Career Development Events hosted by Sam Houston State University are posted on judgingcard.com. There you will find the final results along with heat results.
Congratulations to all who remained committed to excellence in leadership skill development and fielded teams this fall. As always, Thank you to the faculty and students at Sam Houston State University for the fine work that they do and have done continuously since these types of events were first hosted in Huntsville in 1931, with the exception of a break from 1942-47 created by World War II. Also, thank you to all who volunteered to judge these events.
State Leadership Development Events Historical Data
Texas FFA began tracking statewide participation in 2000. The table below provides a snapshot of the last ten years. While Leadership Development Events do not provide the hands-on laboratory of a local program of activities, they do provide opportunity to build vital communication, parliamentary and teamwork skills which have historically been a hallmark of the program.
