Program Information      
The Texas FFA Convention Student Media Program provides a professional environment for students to cultivate skills related to journalism, photography, video production. It is a week-long experiential learning environment that enables members to apply creativity and technical skills in a fun and practical setting.  

The staff will have their work published online at texasffa.org, the convention app, and on the association’s various social media outlets.
 
We are excited to fill these positions with hard-working, responsible FFA members who are ready to learn!

There are three different roles students can apply for:

Reporter - Responsibilities include writing news articles covering the happenings of the Texas FFA Convention. Must be an excellent writer and be familiar with AP Style. Written communication and interviewing skills are imperative.

Photographer - Responsibilities include capturing photo images highlighting the Texas FFA Convention. Must have knowledge of photography and the use of a professional camera.

Video Reporter - Responsibilities include capturing footage, and assisting the Communications Coordinator in editing, and producing a two-minute video package highlighting the Texas FFA Convention. Must be familiar with using a professional camera and audio equipment.

Social Media Content Creator - Responsibilities include capturing social media content assigned by the Communicators Coordinator. Must have platform expertise, video and photo editing experience and exhibit a high level of creativity.

Important Advisor Information      
Advisors, please note the following:
  • Once selected, all staff will have to have an agreement and health form signed by a guardian and advisor.
  • There is no additional fee attached to participation in the program.
  • Participation in the program does not wave or cover the student’s convention registration. All accepted staff members must be registered for the event by their advisors in conjunction with their chapter.
  • Participants can serve as chapter voting delegates, however, previous notification must be made to the program coordinator.
  • Once selected, all staff members, unless receiving their Lone Star Degree, are requested to assist with the Lone Start Degree sessions. Unique circumstance may excuse absence, but previous notification must be made to the program coordinator.
  • Lunch will be provided Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the event, and dinner will be provided only on Wednesday. 
  • Housing and transportation to and from the center are not provided.
  • It is recommended that all staff bring a laptop to the event for the week. in addition, photographers and video editors/reporters should bring their own professional cameras and editing software. If the resources are not available, please reach out to the program coordinator.
  • A detailed schedule will be provided prior to the event.
