New Chapters Define Infinite Growth

Local chapters are the FFA's most vital unit. This year 12 new chapters were recognized on stage during the 88th Annual Texas FFA Convention and received their permanent charter.

To complete the charter process chapters must meet all of the benchmarks established by the Texas FFA Association policy. Once an instructional program is verified and approved by the Teacher Education Association, a chapter secures a temporary charter. This allows a new chapter to participate just like any other chapter, but expires at the end of the membership year during which it is issued unless extended by the state executive director.

“By receiving their charters, many new Texas FFA members get to experience the wide variety of events, conventions, and culture that we all associate with the FFA,” Texas FFA Vice President Alec Winfrey said during first general session Tuesday afternoon.

The schools chartered this year include Brewer, Crane, Midlothian Heritage, Groom, Frisco Lone Star, Frisco Reedy, Rowlett, The Colony, V.R. Eaton, Van Horn, and Veterans Memorial - Corpus Christi. Along with these new chapter charters Van Horn, Avalon, and White Settlement were rechartered back into the state association.

“It gives me a chance to start something new in my school,” Frisco-Reedy member Taylor Paul said, “Our first year [as a chapter], we are going to start working on getting more people involved in FFA at our school.”

The inclusion of these new chapters emphasizes this year’s convention theme and truly defines Texas FFA’s “Infinite” growth.
